My 60CS came with a USB cable.
I was wondering if the USB cable end common the the GPS is a industry
standard type connection or is it proprietary to Garmin products?
In particular, will my new Motorola V180 phone (which I don't have yet)
accept the cable for interfacing with my PC?

It is a common industry standard.

Olympus digital cameras and Sony cameras uses the same cable.

Usually the standard USB cable should work if you connect directly from =
PC
to any USB device. *But* if you connect between Device <-> Device =
(example
Portable Digital Storage connects to Memory Card Reader) then you may =
need a
special adapter (reversed order).

OK, if you look at the Color-Of-Plastic inside the connector you may see

LARGE + LARGE =3D both end usually WHITE

LARGE + small =3D Large usually WHITE and Small =3D BLACK

And for some Portable Storage (external hard drive with USB port to
connect to digital cemera or memory card reader) you may need a special
Adapter to turn the "White + Black" to "White + White" for it to =
recognize
the device (camera or memory card reader). Well, I learned this few =
months
ago when I got my first Portable Storage, returned the first one cuz I
didn't realize the different, almost return the second one until I tried =
the
adapter (they sent me 2) to learn my lesson <g>
