| Hi, I just purchased a gpsV and it came with a serial port comm. cable, I
have a laptop that does not have a serial port on it. Has any one out their
got one of the serial to usb adaptors to work. I keep reading about people
having troubles getting this to work.
Thanks ,

Never had any trouble with mine. It isn't really an adaptor, which might be
where some of the confusion comes in. It's more of a USB serial port. So as
far as any programs are concerned, you're connecting to a COM port, not a
USB port. The main thing is (once you've installed the driver for the COM
port), is that you get the right port number (probably 3), and everything
should be OK from there.

| I've heard of off-brands not working. My Keyspan works fine. Keep
experimenting with port numbers until you get it right. Mine works on
5.
