Author Update for Garmin 2620?
Key Bored

Hi All,

I purchased the Garmin Street Pilot 2620 in September of last year. It's
hard drive contains North American City Navigator v.6, software v3.9, and
audio v 2.10.

The Navigator v.6 mapping data that I have doesn't show any streets shown
for my neighborhood, which is almost 5 years old now. I didn't find any
information on Garmin's website on an updated version or any planned
releases.

1. Does anyone have an idea when the map will be updated?
2. How will the new mapping data be installed on the 2620 hard drive?
3. Will there be a charge for the update, or will it be free if the unit is
still under warranty?

Thanx,

My old Street Pilot III came with North Amrica City Navigator v4.01 (it
was just about 1-2 months too late for free upgrade to v5 or v6 I can't
remember) and Garmin want $150 to upgrade software to v5.x (I think) =
which
is too juicy for outdated map.

It seems like Garmin may not release newer CN as they may go for
Pre-Loaded. And they do have some problem with some street, I am not =
saying
newer roads, but my street I live in the same street for almost 20 years.
City Navigator v4.01 does have the street, but miscalculate just about =
few
hundred feet or so (very annoying.. and I can't show off my toy to any of=
my
friend who visit me <g> )

FREE? only if within few month, after that you will have to pay between
$75-150 depending on what map you use. You can find the software upgrade
price at www.garmin.com

Pre-loaded or not, the maps will still need updating to stay current.

Very true! except with the pre-loaded user don't have to worry about
forgetting to load street-map to some out-of-state which I did few months
ago and went 1/2 deaf at strange state/cities.

And the upgrade price costs almost (1/2) a whole new unit.
