| People of Garmin world (myself included) I come in peace, A recent purchaser
of Garmin equipment I am and therefore have many questions, One of which is
burning a hole in my outer protective clothing, as follows: The antenna for
cars with windshields that block satellite transmissions, how does the
actual (for want of a better word) "Square Part" attach to the car, inside
or outside? and if outside do holes need to be drilled?
Thanks and apologies for the phraseology

Trees, and especially wet trees, attenuate the signal. An external antenna
gives better reception, and also lets you put the GPS wherever you want, so
you don't have to keep it in your hand oriented in any position. You can
put it in your pocket, or anywhere you want, without losing the signal.
Your body will block the signal, and in marginal conditions your head over
the unit can cause loss of signal.
