I'm new to this group, My Map196 in the land mode goes blank while
driving , but only when I have a data card in it.. I have had it back
to garmin 8 times... They can't find any problems. It's not the
antenna or the power supply. becoue I put it in other cars & it dose
the same.. & if i put my street pilot III in and use the antenna &
power supply from my 196 & put the data card from the 196 in the pilot
III everything runs OK, so it has to be something in the 196 it self
when reading the data car.. can any one help..

Is it possible that you have to unlock the second unit (free)
http://www.garmin.com/unlock/
if you use the same software?
