Custom Road Pref catagories

| In the Custom Road Preference settings, there are three sliders for road
category, Major, Medium, Minor. What's the definition of Major, Medium and
Minor? I've looked all over and can't find anything.
I'm pretty sure Major is an interstate, Minor is a residential street, but
what category would something like a state highway fall into? What if it's a
state highway that's divided--does that make a difference? Some state
highways are small go through the back roads and all little towns type of
roads that are slower than other state number highways. What/How does it
make a distinction on these types and how does it categorize them?
So much to know! ;-)
Thanks all.

It appears that major refers to highways (interstates and divided
highways), medium to arterial roads and minor to residential streets.
Someone may know for sure, but this has been my observation.
