Author screen blanking out!

Hi folks--

I have a two year old Garmin Forerunner 100, and I've noticed that the
screen occasionally blanks out when I haven't turned the unit off, and at
times I also get weird readings--slow running pace when I know I'm going
faster--this seems to happen more often in shady conditions, and also in
moderately treed areas--I suppose the cloud cover and foliage has something
to do with this?

I've never submerged the unit, but of course running in the summer makes me
sweat a lot--I would hope the unit is engineered to take some perspiration
without getting water logged--but maybe it isn't.

Will a two year old unit still be on warranty--or, will it be *all* out of
my own pocket if I send it for repair?

Thanks--

Jean in VA

wet foilage shades the GPS signal, thus wrong position information and
other wrong info. The only thing you can do is to position the
receiver for optimal reception, or change to the most sensitive
receiver class on the market today (Sirf3, that is not a Garmin unit).

Now the blank screen sounds more like a power problem - is the battery
really thight, or can it move around by shocks?
