I've a GarminMAP76S (ver. 3.70)
The menu "Change Data Fields" contains
"Water Temerature".
-----
Using the Datafield "Water Temperature", the Display shows: "--.-"
-----
In the MAIN-SETUP in TAB "Units" exist a field "Temperature"
to change celsius into fahrenheit.

I don't know what this features can do

Please help if You can...

Hello Hubert.

According the manual for my 76C, this will show "the temperature of the
water at a measured depth using measurement devices interfaced to the
GPSMap 76C".

Meantime: the GARMIN-Service wrot me:
The Watertemp runs with a fishfinder by connecting over NMEA
