Author Removal of Dash Mount for StreePilot 2620

Hi All,

I have the StreetPilot 2620. I am using the dash-mount base, secured to the
vinyl dashboard with Garmin's permanent adhesive disk (Garmin Part No.
249-00059-00).

Although Garmin describes the adhesive disk as permanent, the owner's manual
doesn't indicate a removal procedure, other than "If permanent adhesive is
later removed, use rubbing alcohol to clean any adhesive residue". I don't
want to damage by dash surface by yanking on the mount. What's the safest
way to remove the mount? Apply heat e.g. hair dryer? Slide putty knife
under the mount? Or what?

Thanx,
Key Bored

I have had great success removing things mounted with "permanent
adhesives" by using a length of dental floss placed between the mounted
item and the surface to which it is affixed and "sawed' back and forth.

Your milage may vary.
