creating routes on a PC

| Can the GPS units that have the maps built in allow this? Reading the
manuals of some GPS units do not explicitly indicate this is or is not
possible. What options do I have regarding automotive GPS units that allow
importing of custom routes with multiple waypoints created on a pc?
Thanks,

I do it all of the time with my Garmin GPSMAP 76CS. Don't know about
others.

If you want to create custom routes on your pc, you should be looking for a
GPS that comes with software and maps, such as; Mapsource and City Navigator
North America. The GPSs that come with all maps pre-loaded are nice to go
from point A to point B, but difficult to create custom routes on. IMO
