| I'm considering getting one of the new SP2720s. Is there any other unit
that I should consider first? In other words, do the old 2610s and 2620s
have features that are no longer available on the 2720? I'll be using this
for the US only and only in my car, but I want it to be portable so I can
move it to other cars easily. Does anyone know about the 2720 yet?

| I have one due on Monday... I believe with the exception of the higher
resolution screen and traffic alert ability there probably is little or no
difference. I just passed on a 2610 to my son, who passed on my prior SPIII
to his son.. Never had a problem with any so far.

I have the 2720 but its my first StreetPilot GPS so I do not know how it
compares with the 2610/20. From what I have read though, the 2720 seems to
use all the same housing, mounts and accessories as the 2610/20's.
I read a post (another NG) that said they like the 2610 better because you
can download track logs and upload waypoints ( called favorites on the 2720)
and routes to the 2610, but I tried transferring the data to and from my
2720 to MetroGuide US v6.0 on my PC and it works except the routes have to
be recalculated (routes transfer as a straight line between waypoints).
Maybe if I were using the City Navigator N A 7.0 software on the PC (the
same as on the 2720) then maybe the routes would not need to be
recalculated when transferred.
One thing I was worried about was the screen brightness because I read
reviews of the other Garmin StreetPilots with 3D map views not having
bright enough screen, but the 2720 seems to be plenty bright enough in
bright daylight for me even with sunglasses on.

| First impressions is that the screen is " AWESOME "... But, it is not as
intuitive as the 2610 to operate. More time to play with it tomorrow..
