My Vista C came with the Marine POI database preinstalled.

When I uploaded my Worldmap (and other maps), obviously that database
overwritten.

I found a D00590XA-Marine-POIDatabase_10.exe file on the Germin
website. It seems that it contains a special installer which directly
talks to the GPSR.

My questions:

a) won't using that in turn overwrite my uploaded maps, so that I
can have only either the Marine POI Databses or uploaded maps on the
Vista C at any time?
b) Is that Marine-POI even usabel with the Vista C
Is not, is there another download I did not find that
supports the Vista C?
c) Is there any way to extract a complete map from the GPSR (ideally
in .img or even better Mapsource format). AFAIK Mapsource
only extracts info which maps are loaded but not the mapdata

d) On some Garmin GPSRs one can upload separate POI databases
(from a .csv file). DOes the Vista C also support this?

thanks

Yes the POI database is a different file format (.rgn IIRC) to normal
uploadable maps (.img) and the two are not compatible.

Don't know - mine's a monochrome Vista.

GPS Explorer - a Java application - will extract .img files, which you can
then view using GPS MapEdit. You will need to install the Java run-time to
use GPS Explorer - again I can't vouch for its compatibility with the
VistaC.
