auto mount for 60CS

| Hi, I have a GPSMAP 60CS on order, and I'm curious about the auto mount
available for it
(http://shop.garmin.com/accessory.js...456%2D00
). Could I
attach this to a vertical surface in the car (i.e., perpendicular to
the ground)? I haven't been able to find any pictures of this mount in
use so I'm not sure how far it can swivel, etc. Also, does it have a
way to tilt the GPS toward the driver, or does it point straight
forward regardless?
thanks

I don't have a 60CS, but the picture looks like a suction cup mount
which normally would attach to the inside of the windshield. You can
also buy plastic disks which are designed to be glued to a surface,
like the dash, and in turn give the suction cup something to attach
to. The two protruding round shafts are thumb screws that lock a
movable joint, so yes, I "believe" it can be tilted however you want.

| The best 60CS mount is the dashboard mount from Garmin. It is a
weighted "beanbag" and has several fittings to allow the GPS to be
mounted in different ways... vertical, tilted, etc. It is very
versatile (uses the Garmins universal click mount) and allows the GPS
to stay up in the windshield area for best signal reception. No glue,
nothing permanent, works car to car... great item. Solved a lot of
problems for me.

| This mount is to be fitted onto a beanbag.
It uses the same beanbag as iQue 3600.
Therfore it will not be possible to fasten onto a vertical surface but is
intended to be placed upon the dash.

| Never tried the beanbag mount, but I really like my windshild suction
cup mount.

I've tried both for my Quest. The suction cup mount is a bit of a pain
to attach and detach, is (I believe) technically illegal in
California, and can get an annoying bounce going on rough roads. I
keep the beanbag (actually, no beans - more like a lead plate and lead
shot) in a plastic bag which I toss in the back seat when not in use.
Now and then it can slide, so I have a pad of rubber webbing that I
bought in a kitchen shop which sandwiches between it and the dash. It
still requires most of the suction cup mount, however the suction cup
is unscrewed and replaced with a plastic disk that locks into the
mount. It's easier to place it right where I want on the dash, is
hassle free, easy and safe to adjust while I'm driving, and no more
bounce. The disadvantage is that I can see where some dashs might not
accommodate it.

| Yeah, that may be the one advantage of the windshield mount. It is very
flexible and can accomodate low angle windshields with minimal dash
space.

| I have a 60CS and the suction cup mount from Garmin (good deal on eBay). I
like it a lot. Solved the "bounce" issue by adjusting the mount so that the
GPS antenna touches the windshield and voila no bounce. So far it seems to
be infinitely adjustable for low to high rake windshields.
