Author Etrex land contours?

Is there anyway to turn off everything but the track? Its hard to see
which is the track log and which are teh streets.

In an etrex Vista (and probably the other models too) you can select the
"Show None" option from the option menu button whilst you have the "i"
button selected in "Map Setup". That will turn off the display of all
uploaded mapping. Unfortunately there isn't any way of turning of the
display of the basemap and, in desperation, I have uploaded custom blank map
tiles (very easy to generate since there's noting on them!) and selected
just these to obliterate the base mapping and so give me a blank background
screen.

If you don't want the map, then why buy a mapping GPS? A basic yellow
eTrex is what you want if you don't want to see maps - works as well as
the expensive models, at a much lower price.
