Author Legend "C" max speed problem

I have the exrex legend C and when I take a
trip or walk i've noticed that the maximum
speed is always out of range.

For example yesterday I took a walk along the
ocean front and when I was done the max speed
was 19.1 mph. I know that I did not go over
5 or 5.2 mph.

A week ago I took a long ride in the car to
test the device. It was about 160 miles and
when I was done it said my max speed was 191 mph???
My car isn't capable of that kind of speed.

At first I thought that maybe it was because
I move the gps unit in the car while the car
was moving and it was a "multiplier" effect.
But that is not so.

Now I think it's because the signal was lost
and when it regained the signal it never tracked
how long the signal was lost and thinks I covered
that distance instantaneously and calculated max
speed based on that. Dittow with when I used it
walking.

Has anyone ever noticed this about the legend?

Thanks

All GPS's do that if they lose signal for a few seconds. I noticed that
when I bought the suction-cup windshield mount the problem went away. When
I am walking in heavily forested areas, it happens occasionally. The eTrex
legend series GPS's have no glitches.

Yes. We took a train trip recently and the max speed
given was a speed way beyond what your typical Amtrak
train travels at. I was kinda disappointed because at
one time in the middle of the night it seemed like we
were really haulin' (but not *that* fast).

Went riding horseback in the forest. Average speed was 653 km/h....

But I had the GPS-V in my pocket, so it's excusable.
