Someone help me out a little here, please...

A person buys a GPS. You then buy the software from Mapsource, let's use
"Canada enhanced basemap" for an example.

You then either purchase the unlock code from Garmin or use the one that may
or may not with your new GPS.
Once the software is "unlocked" it will function on your PC but cannot be
downloaded to your GPS?
Or can it be downloaded to your GPS but still needs another unlock code to
work there?
If someone could explain the unlock procedure, it would help lots of us, I'm
sure.

Unlock codes are tied to a specific GPS unit.

Any valid unlock code will work with MapSource on yoru PC. Only an
unlock code for your specific GPS will allow those maps to work in that
GPS.
