| This is Chalybeate Fire, a volunteer fire dept, we were in need of 4
gps units for our trucks, I have a donated unit on the way now that
will do the mapping so I now only need 3 units with or without maps.
Any type of unit will do as long as it don't need a computer to work.
These will go in our fire trucks to be able to give lat-lon to the
air-evac crews that come to wreck calls we run. Having the lat-lon will
speed up their response and help save lives. We call the helicopter
about 15 times a year, I know that is not many times, but if it saves
just ONE life it is worth it. Please help with a donation of your old
gps or money so we can buy a cheap unit. We will give reciepts for your
taxes, we are non-profit. Here is our web site so you can see that we
are for real. We operate on a very tight budget so we can't just buy
the units we need.

| Actually, I think it's a legit request.. check out their web site... You
just insulted a volunteer fire fighter. Unless you know something I don't.

I checked it out and it looks legit to me as well. Sometimes
a minute or two spent researching is well worth it.

If you can't beat 'em, they're not tied down properly.

| I think this would be a good idea for a charity. if there was a trusted
& reputable charity that gave out old gps units to volunteer fire
departments then people wouldn't have to wonder that there was some
scammer or not trying to get them. of course, I suppose sufficiently
savy scammers could scam a charity just as easily eh?
