Garmin i3 startup

I've just managed to get one last week but when I start it up it always says
"Please insert the TransFlash (microSD) Memory card" even though the card is
in the slot - is this supposed to appear every time I startup or is faulty?

I had exactly the same problem with mine. I removed the card then
reinserted it, and off it went - apologies if this seems patronisingly
simplistic, but it worked for me.
