| Hi
After much deliberation as to which Garmin automotive device to get I
eventually purchased a Nuvi 360. After charging, I was impressed as to how
easy it was to use, until that is, I tried to use Bluetooth. It paired with
my phone (Nokia 6230i) straight away and I used it in handsfree mode no
problem. When I then turned the until off and back on again, I saw the
message 'Updating Bluetooth firmware' along with a percentage completion
bar, which froze on 87% despite being left alone for over an hour. Both
Garmin and the supplier offered a range of options to try to solve the
problem, including a factory restore option, but nothing would work. The
supplier is now taking the device back and is sending me a new one.
Just wondered if anyone else has encountered this or similar problems with
Garmin units with Bluetooth capabilities.
Thanks
Ade

| Had the same problem on my Nuvi 310 (equivalent NZ model of 360). Except,
my model frose on 48% I'm surprised that you got so far and am very
jealous! :)
I wrote to Garmin about 2 weeks ago and haven't heard back regarding this
(very intermittent) issue. However, only TWO days ago, my bluetooth
phonebook magically erased itself, which I was very pleased about since it
had incorrect numbers in it - but does make me wonder about my unit.
I haven't had it hang on me again in 2 weeks though.
I am sending mine back to the supplier too next week, but for a little
different issue, which if you have, I'D LOVE TO HEAR about... Whenever I
turn on my Nuvi, a few of My favourite waypoints change their symbols!!
(Message posted previously). If this happens to you, PLEASE contact me in
this group!
All the best,
Martin

| My Nuvi 310 did the same thing on two occasions. First time I cleared it with
a couple of resets, second time I couldn;t get it to do anything but show that
'updating...' so dropped in to see the local dealer - he fiddled with it and
it started working OK. But he doesn;t know what he did to fix it!! And he
doesn't know why it did what it did.
Anyway, it has worked fine since then - no probs using it every day for a two
weeks holiday. One of those mysteries of the universe I guess

Hey! Just got a replacement unit and it too came up with Updating Bluetooth
Firmware. But IT froze on 0%!!! :) Have deleted all the files off the SD
card which may have been rubbish left from the last lot.

I ordered Nuvi 360 (
http://www.edealsdaily.com/showdeal.php?dealid=2827 ) & waiting to
ship. NOW I am started to get worried reading these lot of 'system
frozen' messages. Do lot of guys encounter this problem...did you guys
get it solved when you update the latest firmware?

| I wouldn't be too concerned CAGuy - although I did encounter the 'updating
bluetooth' problem twice, it has not reoccured and I would happily buy another
Nuvi 310 if my current one was lost (though I would be tempted by the Nuvi 630)
Reading news posts, reviews etc it seems all brands of GPS have isssues at some
time, and since the Garmin Nuvi issue goes away that is a better thing than
other brands where the issue/problem is there to stay.
So, enjoy your Nuvi - I am sure you wil be delighted with it

| Hi There CAGuy
The 630 is a figment of my slipping memory - sorry about that, as I did mean the 660

| I've just had my replacement unit and it works fine. I'm sure it's just one
of those odd problems that happens to all sorts of electronic kit from time
to time.
