Hello everybody,

What follows is the last few records of a tracklog:

30 4/10/2006 16:53:06 31 m 192 m 0:02:07 5 km/h 214° waar N50 52 29.6 E4 01
11.7
31 4/10/2006 16:55:13 28 m 95 m 0:01:01 6 km/h 178° waar N50 52 24.4 E4 01
06.3
32 4/10/2006 16:56:14 28 m 44 m 0:00:39 4 km/h 161° waar N50 52 21.3 E4 01
06.4
33 4/10/2006 16:56:53 27 m 1 m 0:04:32 0.0 km/h 218° waar N50 52 20.0 E4 01
07.2
34 4/10/2006 16:52:21 25 m
N50 52 20.0 E4 01 07.2
<end>

The track is loaded into Mapsource from a GPSMAP 76 CSx. The GPS has the
latest software installed (3.00/2.70). Mapsource is the most recent version
too (6.11.5).
How come that the time in the last record (16:52:21) is almost 4.5 minutes
before the time showed in the one but last record (16:56:53)?
I have checked a lot of tracklogs and I noticed this phenomenon quite often.

Is there an explanation?

Thank you in advance,

Jozef

no explanation, but confirmation. My GPSmap60CSX likes to do the same,
always at the end of a track segment.

I decided not to wait for Garmin to fix this. I have the program Gartrip
removing those crazy track points by its function "Trim tracks".

Anyway, I'm also curious to get any kind of explanation on the meaning of
those backward-points.

Heinrich,

I've sent an email describing the problem to tech support at Garmin.
Whenever I receive an answer I'll post it here. People in other groups
advised me to stop track recording before shutting down the GPS or even to
stop the GPS receiver on the satellite-page before shutdown. This may work
but I find it a bit a hassle.

I wonder if you'll get a response at all...

Another surprising fact on this topic: the backjump points are not present
on the GPX file recorded in parallel! In most cases, the point immediately
preceding the backjump point is also missing.
