Hi,

I've just dusted down my Garmin GPS 12 and started using it again! My
son's have Satnav in their motors, but I kinder like the raw data
hehe!

Anyways, I was wondering if somebody could recommend a proggy to down
and upload the Waypoints for the sake of maintaining a database of
useful locations.

I've searched the 'net but couldn't find anything that was guaranteed
to work. I've just baught a serial connector to attach to my PC,
Windows XP.

Any useful advice accepted,
thanks.

Check out the freeware and shareware programs at:

I purchased GPS Utility and like it very much.

Agreed. For just maintaining lists of waypoints and records of
routes/tracks I'd recommend the free G7toWIN program listed there -
simple, straightforward, and works well. Lots of other programs with
additional features are also available either free or at a pretty
reasonable registration fee.

I've always used the little program "GARDOWN" DOS based, but still my first
choice (from http://vancouver-webpages.com/peter/idx_garmin.html)... and
compatible with most of the formats for waypoints that you can download off
the web... (http://www.swopnet.com/waypoints/)

Regards,

Martin

Thanks Martin,

looks like gardownb is the latest update - works just fine, (now I can
remember why I resisted the move from DOS to Windows hehe).

And, thanks for the links to waypoints, bonus job!

Cheers,
Shankley
