I have an iQue 3600. Reformatted my HD. Was re-installing the software but
could not locate the Intellisync software on the CD's that I have.

Does that not use MicroSoft's ActiveSynch? A google search will turn
that up as a free download.

ActiveSynch is a terminate and stay resident application that, in the
finest traditions of MicroSoft's offerings, can be annoying and
troublesome at times. MicroSoft has not made any provisions for halting
the TSR (it will be seen in the tray) but there is a freeware utility
named KillActiveSynch that will stop it.

Hey, I didn't know that! Thanks.
I wished I knew this a few years earlier. Would have saved me a couple
of (even more) annoyances with Windows Explorer.
But that's in the past now. Nowadays I use Total Commander instead and,
very nice, ActiveSync is automatically loaded again when I want to copy
something to/from my PocketPC with TC.
So my first tests with KillActiveSync look promising....

Try download.com - look at http://www.download.com/ActiveSync/...22.html?tag=pop

You're welcome. Now if we can get MicroSoft to include the fixes in the
downloads...

Thanks for the lead on Total Commander also.

I'm using mostly a couple of older iPAQ's.

There is another utility called closeall for Pocket PC 2002 and 2003
that will close all those apparently already closed applications for
you. You can add it to you start menu, tap it occasionally, and recover
all your memory and set any unrelinquished COM ports free.

Don't forget to also take a look at the (FREE!) PocketPC version of
Total Commander. That's how I got to know Total Commander, and in my
opinion, File Explorer looks like junk if compared to Total Commander.
On my PocketPC, Total Commander is THE tool. It's incredible that it is
actually free. Some time later I tried the PC version, and within 3 days
I purchased it.

My PocketPC is a Garmin iQue M5 (which brings us back ontopic
in this NG :-). This has a special icon on the titlebar (a little
satellite) that shows a System Status screen where you can stop tasks,
or swap to other task, and perform a number of other frequently used
things.

I'm looking for Intellisync so that I can sync my contacts and date book
with Outlook.

For Microsoft Pocket PC/Windows Mobile/Smartphone you need to use ActiveSync
to synchronize data to Outlook.

Intellisync (owned by Nokia) is used for other devices like Sony Ericsson,
Nokia and other Symbian based phones.
