Author Delete Custom POI's From 60CSx

I just loaded (or overloaded) a bunch of custom POI's with the POI Loader
utility. I would like to delete ALL of my custom POI's in my 60CSx. I
can't figure out how to get them out. Any suggestions?

As far as I can the 60CSx does not support custom POI's.

Have you checked to see if they are not in fact waypoints?

They are in fact custom POI's - not waypoints. It's listed in the manual
too but doesn't give much information about it.

I can't download POI tool as part of 50CSx software. I'll need to look into
this :)

Hello Rob,

For other units that support POI's you just have to upload a new, blank set
POI's to erase the old ones.

I've just done some work on POI's on 60CSx.

Yes they are supported.

I managed to get duplicate entries. There is no documented or intuitive
way of managing POI's from the GPS unit or MapSource.

However the POI Loader replaces all the current POI's with a new set
consisting of all items from your chosen folder (that's all gpx & csv
files).

I removed the duplicates from the gpx file using MapSource, reloaded
with POI Loader and the duplicates disappeared.

So if you remove all items from your gpx file you should clear your
Custom POI area. You may have to use a gpx file with no waypoints,
rather than just deleting the file. I suspect if the folder is empty
POI Loader will just report "No file", You might possibly have to
content yourself with one item in Custom POI.

More generally, I have found it a convenient way of managing waypoints.
For example I want to retain "Home" as a waypoint so that I can quickly
set up a navgation back. I can also confidently now delete the
ephemoral days' route waypoints later without the risk of clearing
wanted waypoints. In other words use Custom POI's as permanent
waypoints.

Put your 60CSX into USB Mass Storage mode, or insert the micro SD card into
a card reader. Delete the poi.gpi file from the garmin\POI folder.

Correct. I actually just figured that out yesterday. Just delete the POI
folder on the card and everything is gone including the Custom POI option in
the FIND menu.

Thanks!

Question...forgot to ask. Is it possible to have POI loader create Custom
POI's in the internal memory vs. the data card? If so, that could be a
problem. Don't know how you'd delete that unless you could do some sort of
master reset I guess.
