Author Garmin c530 Euro Map Question

I see that with Garmin's c530 I can load European maps on an SD card.

If I load an SD with all of Europe and plot a route from Paris to Vienna
can I look at the whole route and then zoom in and out on any part of
the route? One comment on another forum suggests that since the unit's
basemap is North American I'd have to zoom in to 5km or so in order to
see any part of a European route, even with all of Europe on the SD card.

Thanks in advance.

You can see the route, but no underlaying map until you zoom in to a
certain level. Exactly which scale normally depends on the map level of
detail setting.

Garmin has a world basemap freely available on their site. It's
intended for the iQue, but the c530 will not complain.

Thanks. That means I'll have to go for the TomTom 910.
