Garmin GPS - timeout message

I keep getting a timeout message when trying to transfer tracks or
routes to and from my pc and garmin geko 201. the serial port is
correct and the device is set up correct. has anybody had this problem
and how did they overcome it? Oh, and I am on my third lead so I dont
think that's the problem.

so tell us what PC program you have in use, and tell us whether this is the
first time you are trying this connection, or whether it worked well in the
past.
