| Hi all,
currently i'm using a Magellan Meridiam Color GPS. And i'm looking for a
new GPS.
The reason i post in this newsgroup is this:
i use GPS trackmaker and with a Magellam i cannot upload custom maps to the
GPS, witch i want to do.
The reason that i am asking is that i am using the GPS in South America and
there are not much maps of that area.
What type would you recommend... i want a colour screen that saves my
tracks while walking in south america; with the use of custom maps of south
america ( uploaded from another program, if needed )

The Garmin 60 or 76 Cx and CSx models would be good step up from the
meridian Color. They have much better displays and thee SiRF III chip
set. Also, a lot more software features.
I don't do any map making but have some interest in it. There seems to
be a lot more people out there making maps for Garmins, and a lot more
software and other Internet based resources available for making maps
for the Garmins. You might want to research the map making issues some
before you buy, like I say, I have not actually done that.
