Author GPS for cycle tour + upload to internet without software

Hi,

I am interested in using a GPS to track my route while on a cycle tour
in Europe.
I want to use the GPS tracklogs to show my route on an online map and
also to Geotag my photos.

I need to be able to upload the tracklogs as GPX files at internet
cafes.
As far as I know, most internet cafes won't let you install software on
their computers.
So I won't be able to install the software that comes with the GPS,
which is what you'd usually use to get info off a GPS and convert it to
GPX format.
How can I get the data from my GPS, convert it to GPX and get it onto
the internet?

I've spoken to Garmin as I'm interested in their eTrex Vista CX GPS.
They say that I could save the tracklogs to the unit's micro SD card as
GPX files,
then connect the unit to a internet cafe computer via USB.
I'd then be able to access the GPS micro SD card as a storage device,
and upload the files to the internet.

Has anyone with a Garmin eTrex Vista CX uploaded data in this way at an
internet cafe?
Anyone got any other ideas on how to get data uploaded while I'm on a
cycle tour?

I will have some sort of smart mobile phone or PDA with me aswell
Does anyone know of a GPS that connect to a smart mobile phone or PDA?
What OS / makes of phone would this be possible with?

Many Thanks for any advice.

I have a 60CSx - you can take the microSD card out, put it in an
adaptor (which they're normally sold with), stuff it in a standard SD
slot, and you can see the track files.
Get your self a 2Gig card and you'll have plenty of space for the track
logs + maps.

Thanks Kyot. Seems like this should work fine on the Vista CX too.
The 60CSX is more expensive with shorter battery life,
so I think the Vista CX will be more appropriate for a cycle tour.

sounds reasonable.
Also, you might look at some of the sites/tools discussed in the flickr
geotagging group. There are sites you can just about upload a track
file to to show on a map - as well as digital pics which can then be
tagged... much fun.
