Text Waypoints to Mapsource.

| I have a large number of waypoints in an excel file. Is there any way to
transfer this data to Mapsource? It would be quite tedious to do that many
one at a time. I have over 200 sites to transfer.
Thanks Bill

A simple experiment with MapSource showed me that while it will
export waypoints to a tab-delimited file, it won't import them.
On the other hand, it will export and import "GPS Exchange" (gpx)
files, which are some sort of XML file, which you might be able to
generate from your data.

You might be able to do that with one of the 3rd party applications
found here:

GARTrip, GPSBabel, GPS TrackMaker, and the G7TO programs would be good
ones to look at.

gpx files are widely used, but are tedious to create and MapSource is
fussy that the header section is correct. They require wp's in decimal
lat long to WGS84 (and metre elevation if that is in your data).
GPSUtility www.gpsu.co.uk ( a very modest cost for a full wotrking
version) will read and write a very wide range of formats, including
..txt, .csv. It would be fairly easy to generate an Excel .csv file with
the columns in the required order, then prepend a header section.
