I defer to the "experts" and the fine print on the CD as to the legality
of your selling it and/or keeping a copy.
But the realities are that if someone else has that GPS-18 GPS receiver
and that City Select CD-ROM they can install the software, enter the
unlock code, and have a full working installation.
When you went on line you used the number on the MapSource unlock
certificate that accompanied the CD-ROM, along with the Unit ID Number
of your GPS receiver, to generate a unique unlock code. That unlock
code will you use the mapping from that City Select CD-ROM with that
specific receiver. They are like paired for life and you can't change
that.
What another person cannot do is take that CS CD-ROM and go online to
Garmin and get an unlock code for it that would, in effect, be the first
unlock of that CD-ROM because you have already done that.
