the 12 volt power cord/ speaker (vehicle adapter) has 2 small male plugs on
the side of it. Can someone tell what these are for. I can not find the
answer in the book
Thanks

Like most other 12V auto plug-in accessories, they are spring-loaded
contacts to hold the plug firmly in place while making the "ground"
connection to complete the circuit. Equipment manuals needn't cover
topics it assumes should be common knowledge... such as why your wall
electrical outlet has 2 or 3 holes. Frozen pizza makers are more
pessimistic about consumers' intelligence... note their admonitions to
cook before trying to eat.

Those are for attaching the dead reckoning input cable for the 2650 (the
2610 and 2650 use the same power cord/speaker).

Cheers,

You are right.....I just downloaded the manual from Garmin website and it
states things aliitle different. But it is for a DR cable hook-up, only for
the 2650

No, its not. On the public newgroups only the ones with binary in the
names can take photos. But you can post a link to a image or photo here.

Your first post was misleading because you are gender-challenged. You should
have said 2 small FEMALE JACKS. Only PLUGS are male, for obvious reasons.
The 2610 manual on page 65 clearly shows male plugs on the extra cable to fit
the female jacks on the power/speaker plugin.

Well, Charley, sadly you aint' right, either.

As an example that everyone can relate to , visualize the very common
120VAC removable power cord, that attaches to almost every desk top PC, many
monitors, all manner of rack mount telecom gear, etc.

The end that goes to the equipment, is a plug with FEMALE ports.
The attachment on the equipment, is a receptacle with MALE terminals.

So maybe its you with the gender issues?

And the contacts in question, IIRC, are really male, in a recessed
receptacle.
