Garmin Firm Updfates I would like to see

| I have a GPS76 cs - but some may apply to others
1. Battery Saving mode of the display off. (... And it is rather unsafe to
be watching the screen while going 60 mph on my Ski-Doo Renegade snowmobile!
and while kayaking I watch the scenery most of the timer :)
2. Favorite pages button (Someone else here mention that) to make it easy to
switch between the 2 or 3 screens I use the most, and not having to go to
the Really Small icons to find other used, but not used so often screens.
3. Backlight always on
4. fix fastest speed ( I have NOT gone 107 mph on either my snomo or in my
car!) I think it 'jumps' to the next know spot when it looses a single and
thinks you went from one to the next instantaneously.
5. for the cards that take external; memory cards - the ability to display
pics from my digital camera on the screen! (hey - Why not?)

Have you tried customizing your page sequence? MENU>MENU>Setup>Page
Seq. Highlight one of the page names in the list and press ENTER. You
get a menu that will allow you to change the order, and add or delete
pages from the rotation. I think just about any page in the unit is
available to add. Really made a difference for me.

Sounds like Chill needs to read the manual :)
Likely displaying digipix on the screen will not happen, thought. He
needs an iPod.

| Yup.
But I want to be able to switch back and forth between the map and the
'Data' Page AND still have open or two other pages available without having
to search for them thru the small icon page.
Thanks for getting back though.

| Been there done that and the GPSMAP76cs doesn't have this feature.
I use the compass page 5 or 10 times a trip so do not want that page on
the 'Quick' button - 'Favorite' button, but do want it Easily available, nor
do I want the Menu (Small Icons) page always in the way, but do need it
there for the pages I may need to use.
The Page Sequence is not the same as a Favorite or Quick Switch feature.
But thanks anyway for suggesting I RTFM!! : )
I would give up the Man Over Board button for a Favorite Button.
Think of it like your TV. You can 1st set it to totally not show QVC,
Lifetime Oxygen and PAX. Then you have the Favorite Button, where today I
just 2nd want to switch between The SuperBowl and the Food Network.
The 1st is what the Page Sequence does for you, and the 2nd the GPSMAP76
CS doesn't have. (Or does it and I missed it in the manual?)

Ok, so put it in your page sequence, after the ones that you use more
often. That way it's only a few button presses away.

You can access the Menu Page by pressing the MENU button twice. No
need to have it in your page sequence.

Which you can do by alternately pressing the PAGE and QUIT buttons.
You do know that pressing the QUIT button changes the pages in the
opposite direction, don't you?

If you add the other pages to your page sequence, you could get to them
by just a few presses of the PAGE or QUIT buttons, and then you
wouldn't have to search among the small icons. I put the ones I use
most frequently next to each other in the sequence so it's easy to
switch between them. I group the less frequently used ones together
after the first group. Sometimes it takes a few key presses to get to
the second group, but it's *way* easier than accessing them through the
Menu Page icons. Also, for those things you use too infrequently to
want in your page sequence, you can access the Main Menu page by
pressing MENU twice, so there's no reason to have the Menu page in
the page sequence. Likewise the Recent Finds page, which you can
access by pressing FIND twice.
I know that this isn't what you were asking for; but if you use it as
I've described, it isn't bad.
