| Anyone know where to buy these cards being used in the newer Garmin GPSs? I
usually get computer related memory through Crucial, but they do not have
the Micro SD listed, only a Mini SD.

I noticed Micro SD cards on buy.com where I get most of my stuff. I
Highly recommend this site.

Mini SD is a different size in case you did not know that, it will not
work in a microSD slot.
There is a lot of microSD memory for sale on eBay but I don't hink I've
seen any of it at retailers like Best Buy, Circuit City, etc.

I believe I've seen it at the Circuit City web site under the name
"Transflash". But I did not see a 512M version (though I was looking
for something else and may not have looked carefully enough).

| I was at Best Buy last night and they had 512 meg microSD/Transflash
cards for around $60. They were by the cellphones, not the cameras like
all the other flash memory.

My PC hardware vendor of choice, newegg.com, has SanDisk 512MB
microSD cards for $39.

amazon.de .

| The REI where I bought my GPS was also selling the 512MB cards for
about $60. I've seen them online (Amazon, Outpost) for closer to $40.
Fry's wanted more like $70.
I see that SanDisk has a 1GB version now, and I've seen a few places
online that list it, but none have it in stock. Anyone find one of
those?

I've always bought all my CF, SD and MiniSD from meritline.com and
been happy with the price and delivery time, worth checking out.

BTW, when I contacted Crucial, they said they do not stock the MicroSD cards
and referred me to Amazon. Yep, I saw that SanDisk is listing a 1 GB
MicroSD, but like you said, no one seems to have it in stock.
Now the real question is are there any memory limitations on the Vista Cx or
other units that use these MicroSD Cards? I have an old laptop that maxes
out at 192 MB, and I've seen limits on other laptops, so I don't know if
this is an issue with GPS devices too. I'd hate to buy a Gig card and find
out I can't use it :-{(}

Someone said in a Yahoo forum that they contacted Garmin and they didn't
know!
I would be concerned, too. There may be an addressing limitation above
512 MB .. or not. In any case, I'm really happy to have 512M of memory
in my 60Cx .. and to receive all sats above the horizon while sitting in
my living room!
My SP-III uses the old Garmin proprietary cards. When 256M and 512M
came available, I was able to upgrade to 256M, but 512M will not work in
my SP-III.

I've emailed Garmin asking specifically about the 1 GB card. As soon as I
hear from Garmin, I'll post the reply here. Since right now the card seems
to be unavailable, it seems moot.
