Author 60CS and excess map clutter (geocaching waypoints)

I have lots of geocaches loaded (waypoints). As a result, I cannot
see my maps. The map loads and then a second later the entire screen
is convered with overlapping geocache waypoints completely covering
100% of the screen. I need to soom into to almsot the greatest degree
before the waypoints are separated enought for me to see some roads.
This has now made the GPS useless for everything but geocaching. The
map declutter function does not turn off the display of waypoints.

How do I temporarily turn off waypoints on maps (or better yet just
geocache waypoints) - either will keep me happy. (short of deleting
them all.)

While on the map page page press "menu", then select "setup map".
Set the cursor to "map setup - points " (the flag symbol), then
set the cursor to "user waypoints", press "enter" and select "OFF".
