? When does Garmin Issue Rebates
|
|
|
| I am getting impatient because I wish to purchase the GPSMAP 60CSx but I
already noticed some vendors dropping the price. Of course, I can wait
but I just would like to know when it's a good time to buy.
As I havent been paying attention, when does Garmin typically issue
rebates on their GPS units, when a new model is coming to replace it or
is it random?

About every thirty years.

| Always wait until the price drops another 10%...

Garmin rebate? What is that?
If you are truly "impatient", don't wait.

http://www.tvnav.com/60csx.htm
Free Next Day Air shipping. That's almost like an instant rebate ;-)
My favorite time to buy a gadget is yesterday.
I do tend to buy things on the trailing cusp, though.
I received my 60cs about the time the 60csx became available.

Or, if you need maps too:
http://www.gpsdiscount.com/products/index.html?p=919
Only $40 extra for North America City Select v7 w/ full unlock and the
rest of the auto kit seems like a great deal.

Not sure I understand what you mean. The best price so far for the
60CSx is ~$416, and 60Cx is $376.55 using LACC.com and Chumbo.com. Wait
another 10% until the *average retail* price drops?

That link is for a 60cs, you were originally asking about a 60csx which
ecost doesn't seem to have (s is compass and barometric altitude, x is
vastly improved reception from SiRFstarIII and expandable transflash
memory). I actually went with the 60cx.
The gpsdiscount price only shines when you add the maps. A 60c* is
overkill without maps; unless you already have them you'll want to
factor in their costs.
If you are looking pure price, pricegrabber.com has a 60csx for less
than the ecost 60cs.

So many different apples to compare to similar-named oranges.
The 60cs is marked as discontinued on the tvnav.com site. It doesn't even
appear in the listings, but the direct page is still there.
Mine isn't even dirty yet ;-(

I have the 60cs and the Auto package, which was $140 at tvnav, so the
gpsdiscount price is a good price for the pair. The auto-routing makes the
mapping 60c* a real standalone tool

The 60c is $150 cheaper than a 60csx at tvnav.com.
Pure price... ecost? PriceGrabber? Are those references to someplace
else, perhaps grey market?
tvnav.com has been a regular participant in this group since before I got
here.
There are undoubtedly many fine places to buy a Garmin.

www.ecost.com is an wholesaler of various items. www.pricegrabber.com is a
price search engine.
