My CF card got destroyed on my 2620. Where can I find the original
..img file that was installed on it, or do I need to send the new blank
card back to garmin for installation?
Thanks.
Chris.

Huh .. thought it had a hard drive (CF HDD, I guess).
Unless you have the City Navigator disks, you will have to send it to
Garmin, I guess.
Best is to call Garmin Tech Support for directions.

| I thought the city navigator disks were additions to the OEM file? Are
you saying they are a complete US map set?
As far as the CF card, it is a HDD. In the truck it has been steady,
but kicked the bucket for some reason. I can still read about 1/2 the
data, but that's it. I don't want to re-format it until I can find
the OEM files to place back on it. The factory hasn't returned my call
or e-mail yet, so we'll see what comes of it. I was hoping someone out
there had backed up the files and could FTP them to me.
Chris.

Call tech support and wait. Or call the dealer where you bought it.
There must be a way to deal with this issue.
I doubt if you have the files to put on the new one, if it was shipped
with them pre-installed.

| Phil -
Just a follow up on this. I emailed tech support. I recieved an
automated e-mail reply that said I should send the unit in for repair.
Request an RMA, send money, etc.
I sent a followup e-mail about the unit being fine, but the CF card
having bad sectors.
They are sending me a DVD with Roadmap v7, and the firmware update to
go with it. It sounds like I will just upload the new updates, load
the disk and be up and running.
John is the man who I have corresponded with, and he seems very
reasonable. Given that I was pretty sure of the problem of course.
All is good in map land.
