Hi all,

I have a Garmin model V but not the City Select CD. I understand I can use my
old version 3.00 Metro Guide USA. What problems can I expect? Seeing as I have
the GPSR can I piggy back off another SS CD if I can find one, or does it have
to be the one that came with the unit? *HELP*

New to the model V but I also have an eMap using Roads & Rec and would really
like R&R on the "V" if it would auto route with it.

Oh, the "V" came with maps of my area already installed to memory, if R&R or
MetroG' won't work with auto route I don't wish to screw up what I already have!

Thanks for any help,
Jim A

Leave it as is. Neither R&R nor MG 3.00 will autoroute in the GPS-V.

Garmin's version numbers are confusing since each MapSource product has
both a version number that it's sold as and a separate version number
of the actual map data. Was your MetroGuide-USA sold as v3 or are you
looking at the data version on the Product Info screen? If the latter
then it may support auto-routing. If the region sizes are almost 8 MB
each and it doesn't support auto-routing on your PC then it's the one
that was sold as v3 and you're out of luck. But if the region sizes
average about 1 MB and it does auto-route on your PC then you have what
was sold as v4.01 or 4.02 and it will also auto-route on the GPS V.

You can use another copy of CitySelect, but you'll need to find one
with at least one unused unlock code. Each CS can be unlocked for up
to two receivers.

No, the R&R maps don't support any form of auto-routing.

I have the 8mb type, dated 1999 I think it is?

I was thinking it might give better coverage of an area after the base map auto
routing got me in the vicinity?

Thank you for the help,
