Find address in 2610
|
|
|
| I've found the 2610 to be great but have recently had to find lat/long =
info from a map and then input this directly to a new waypoint on the =
unit to show what I want as the address lookup function is poor.
As an example this is an address of a holiday cottage in the Isle of =
Man.
Tranquility Cottage
Sulby Bridge
Lezayre
Isle of Man
IM7 2HA
As there is no house number or street name the 2610 doesn't find any =
matches - even though it recognises the IM7 2 part the the postcode. =
Surely it should take me to the area?
I can get around it by comparing the roads from the map used to the =
roads on the 2610 but this isn't what I bought the unit for!
Any ideas?
Can other 2610 users find the address?

I can't speak specifically for your example as I don't have that mapset
loaded, but like I just replied to another user of a Quest, do you have the
detailed map of that area loaded? Or are you depending on the built in
basemap? I have a 2610 myself with a 2gb card so I can load the entire US
at once (as opposed to the portion that would fit on the stock memory card)
and while it doesn't have every address in it's database, I've only run into
very few it couldn't find (usually new construction).
An alternative is, once you have found the place once on the 2610 (or on
your PC using the Mapsource software) save it as a waypoint. I have all my
common locations I go to saved as waypoints.

Its no consolation, but at times the 2620 can be incredibly dumb too -
it fails to find particular roads, but can find others nearby.
When you get to the place it "couldn't find" it names the road (and
i`m not talking new roads either) and can identify the house numbers
quite happily.

| I have looked at the map on my 2610.
If you search for Sulby in Isle of Man GBH it finds the village and you can see Sulby Bridge marked.
There are only a couple of small roads shown in the village - hence finding the cottage should be quite easy. |
