A friend dropped off his dysfunctional Legend (original blue 8M model)
today.

Symptom is that it does everything as it should except (minor problem!)
it does not acquire .. or even see .. any satellite signals.

Did a full reset and tried a new aqc: No luck and no signals .. even
after 45 min out and in the clear (running off my 12 A-H rechargable).

Only odd thing in the diagnostic window is signal of 200 or so, vs. 1700
or so in examples .. but perhaps that is just because it is receiving no
signals.

My guess is that this guy is a goner. And Garmin wants a flat $99 to
fix it, he says. Not worth it at that price in today's market.

So .. any ideas, tests to try, etc. anyone can suggest before we take it
apart and see what's inside?

BTW .. next is to turn it off, remove all power and let it sit overnight
with no batteries installed.
