Is anyone using the MapSource Trip & Waypoint Manager? I seemed to
think that was a down loadable utility on came on the Cd-ROM with some
other MapSource product.
I'd like to buy that if anyone has a copy they want to sell.

| If you have any MapSource product you already have Trip and Waypoint
manager.

So that would be the MapSource application that comes with U.S.
Waterways and Lights, Lakes East with Fishing Hot Spots, and the like?
But without that particular mapping data?
I've used the Waterways and Lights to export maps to a data card and the
188 reads those fine.
But I'm also trying to send a collection of waypoints and routes to the
188 so that I don't have to enter them manually. There does not seem to
be any apparent way to put that kind of data on a data card and read it
from the 188.
Reading the info on the Garmin web site, I thought the Trip and Waypoint
Manager would get the data to the 188.
I have not tried uploading them directly using a utility like GPS
Utility. Maybe I need to try that. I want to do a firmware upgrade on
the 188 too so I need to get the serial interface working to do that.

| Trip and Waypoint Manager is just a very basic version of MapSource. If
you have the current version of MapSource you should be able to load
waypoints and routes to the 188.

Yes.

I don't have a 188, but in general Garmins store
waypoint/route/tracklog data in internal memory and only use the data
cards for maps (some of their new units make an exception for the POI
Loader files and active tracklog).
So I'd expect that you'd need to use a cable directly from your PC to
the 188 to be able to transfer waypoints and routes using your
MapSource (or other) software.
