Nuvi tells me the wrong way.

| I saw this the other day on the way home. I entered a saved location. (Home)
from a location about 10 miles from my starting point. When approx 1 mile
from home, Nuvi tells me to make a right turn. I thought this was strange as
the street I live on was the next block up the road.
I went with the nuvi to see what was up. It had me make a right turn for two
blocks, up one block and another right turn, then down the street to my
house. I was sent out of the way by about 300 yards and about 3 more turns
going the nuvi route.
I went back and did it my way. From where nuvi told me to take a right I
stayed going straight. One block later, I'm on my street. Make one right
hand turn and drive to my house which is the same street that I made a right
turn on. I wonder why nuvi is telling me to make turns and go out of my way.
My friends 2620 is telling him the same way to go as my nuvi. Both have ver
7 There must be a mistake in the ver 7
When I did go my way, Nuvi then will see I'm on my street when I make the
right hand turn and tells me to drive on my street with home on right.

Could be. Or maybe an odd nav option is selected.

The map data probably has an error in it. It might think there's a
one-way street in there.

I see something similar on my route from home to work. The Nuvi wants me to
drive two exits past the correct exit on an expressway and then double back
through a couple of secondary roads. It gets the right route for the
reverse commute, though. It also picks some strange directions on other
routes I commonly make, but I put that down to the Nuvi picking a route that
is one minute quicker on paper but 5 minutes longer if one knows typical
urban traffic patterns. Kinda hard for a computer to know that much about
local traffic.
For the most part I'm really pleased that it will get me where I'm going
within a few minutes of the optimum travel time and it's really nice having
it warn you ahead of time that an exit is on the left when traveling in new
areas.

If you zoom in close enough, does the Nuvi have arrows to show what it
thinks are one way streets?
Another thing that can contribute to weird routing is when you have two
divided but parallel roadways represented by separate vectors and your
destination is on the vector going in the opposite direction from your
arrival. That can send you around the block or have you making double
backs.
The wrong vector selection can result from a search based on street
number or from a zoomed out cursor selection where the cursor was
closest to the wrong place.
