Author SP 2610 installation question

The new SP2610 we recently bought (from Amazon) did not include the
MapSource Setup CD (and had only one City Navigator CD, instead of a
two-pack set.) According to the Setup Guide, we need the Setup CD to
install it, and there should have been another City Navigator CD as
well. Strangely enough, when we received the replacement that Amazon
promptly sent us, we found that the packaging was identical: only one
City Navigator Version 7 CD, and no MapSource Setup CD. Amazon assures
us that the packages sent to us were in their original packaging. Is
it possible that the 2610 no longer requires the Setup disk? It seems
to be too much of a coincidence for two packages to be missing the same
things. (Perhaps they updated their product without updating the
manual). I can't reach anyone at Garmin today because of the holidays,
and the Amazon folks, unsurprisingly, do not know. If you know the
latest about 2610, and the answer to my question, please let me know.
I'd hate to have to send this back to Amazon, again. Thanks

Colin

City Navigator V7 comes on one DVD - not CD.

I'm sorry, I meant to say City Navigator 7 DVD.

My real question, though, is whether the MapSource Setup disk is still
required. It was not included in the first package we got. Nor was it
in the replacement package Amazon sent us. It seems to be too much of
a coincidence that the same thing would be missing from both (sealed)
packages that we got. Is it possible that Garmin updated their 2610 so
that setup is no longer required, but they forgot to update their setup
guide and manual to reflect that? I searched through the Garmin site
but found nothing

Why not try installing it? If it works you're done.

I think the DVD is all you need.

Thank you, I might just do that. It's just that I'm not that
tech-savvy and so I generally try to follow instructions for
installation--in which case everything goes fine. I have a harder time
figuring out what to do without instructions, or if the instructions
are wrong! But, thank you both for your advice. Marina

Usually just stick the disk in and it will give you instructions. The
complex part will be the unlock process.

I jut bought a 2610 from Amazon (for the wife, I already have a 2610) and
the single DVD has the setup and maps. It is all you need.
