| I have an Etrex Vista Cx and want to know how to erase all the data
(including downloaded maps) on my GPS so that only the default base map
is installed. Basically, put it back the the way it was when I bought
it. I don't have any "unlocked" map software to download a blank map
to (that's what I read in this group that you have to do). All I have
is the Waypoint Manager and I can't figure out how to create a blank
map.
Any help would be great.

How did you get the maps into it that are there now???

| I have City Navigator unlocked on Mapsource but I don't have the unlock
code for the GPS. I accidently hit ok to transfer the map when it said
not to.
All the reading I find says you have to download another map. But the
only other thing I have is Waypoint manager.

So build a map set with *no* maps and hit OK to transfer again. That
should clear the maps out of your unit.

| How do you build a map with nothing in it?
Do I do it in City Navigator or Trip and Waypoint? I opened City
Navigator and it is blank. So I click transfer to device and I get the
message "To transfer data to your device, select maps or creat
waypoints, routes or tracks"

To remove the maps, put the microSD card in a card reader (you will need
a microSD to SD adapter) and then format the card. It will be as good
as new. I got the adapter when I bought a bigger card.
To remove waypoints, routes, tracks and such, there is a menu option
with a "reset all". As I recall, it is accessed from the trip computer
icon.
