Author City Navigator NT North America - Do I Need This Accessory?

I noticed the above on the Nuvi 350 accessory page. It is an expensive
addition, and it makes me wonder what actually came with my new 350. Are
these maps better than what I have? If so, do I have to buy the expensive
pre-loaded SD card or can I load my own SD Cards? Sorry if these questions
have obvious answers, but this is a strange new world to me.

Thanks
Ed

If you already have NA maps loaded in your 350, you do not need this
accessory.

If you have Euro maps loaded, and want to use it in North America, the
accessory might be of interest.

You should be able to load your own cards using Mapsource software
(currently only possible with Windows computers).

Phil, I bought the Nuvi 350 and garmin advised me that If the maps get hosed
or you need to upgrade, The unit must be sent back to Garmin. This I'm sure
will change. I called Garmin after finding no DVD V.7 in the box. I called
to get one and that's when I was told it would need to be sent back. This
might have been updated. As I called about a month ago.
