Garmin GPSMAP60CSx, Metroguide 6.5 Europe, auto routing?
|

| Hi
Sorry for posting a n00b question, I'm very new to handheld GPS and
I've been playing around with my new Garmin GPSMAP60CSx since I got it
and I can't figure out how to get it to auto-route. I've set all the
parameters I can find on the GPS to choose car, and follow roads, etc,
but it still just draws a straight line between wherever I am and the
destination, which obviously isn't feasible in a car! I've tried
emailing Garmin a few times last week, but they are not the best at
coming back to you within any sort of reasonable time frame.
I was just wondering if this was because the software isn't adequate
(I've got Metroguide Europe 6.5 installed as the Mapsource at the mo),
or whether I have to do something I'm not doing on the GPS itself? If
it is the software, can anyone advise what software I would need to buy
to get auto-navigation to work with this GPS?
Any advice naturally gratefully received. Thanks in advance.

You need either City Navigator or City Select.
Metroguide Europe will not autoroute in a GPS. So any routes you get
use the basemap.
BTW .. make sure your options are "Follow Road". Otherwise, you will
get straight line route no matter what maps are installed.

I use MG EU 7 and MG USA 6 with no problems with my 60CSx. I use the
procedure outlined
in

"Find" function and autorouting both work very well!
