Could you please answer this question for me
a) Is it possible for me to take a GPS; attach it to my computer using
(serial or USB) ; attach my wifi device on the other interface
(etherenet); move around the house and neighbourhood and plot it
somewhere.

What and where should I look at.

The program GPS2BLUE could help you. It allows a BT GPS to connect to a
PDA and then output a NMEA signal to another device over bluetooth or
another channel including ethernet. Thus, you can use wifi.
