Provided that you bought CN8 for the first one. If you have a
pre-installed CN8, then you probably don't have any other code to use.

I think it depends on whether the purchase was from a retailer or an auction.
CN8 was installed on my 2720 and I had no trouble unlocking it and my 76Cx.
Both were retail purchases.

this retail copy of CN8 on another GPS? If I need a separate unlock code,
how do I get it and does it cost anything?

You can obtain an additional unlock for a second GPS. I think the assumption
is that you own both.
Assuming you have MapSource, click on Tools and select the unlock wizard.
Follow the wizard's instructions.
