Garmin GPS - 2620 Question

2620 Question

I paid $1k for my 2620 two years ago. Naturally, the successor (2720) is now
under $700, and does things the 2620 won't do, like announce road names and
pick up traffic alerts.

Question: For announcing roads by name, is this just a matter of upgrading
the underlying software, or is the 2620 simply not able to handle saying
road names? (I realize that traffic alerts require different hardware since
that's an entirely different system.)

Garmin now show this unit as discontinued, so I doubt we'll be seeing
any updates for it (I have one too)
