I've planning on getting the above GPS (buying from the UK) and I want
to use an USA map on it.

I'm looking at the MapSource City Navigator North America v8 DVD. Can
anyone tell me whether I'll be able to use the MapSource City Navigator
North America on my GPS?

Will there be anything stopping me from using the USA map software on
my GPS because I purchased it in the UK?

Will I have to purchase the MapSource City Navigator North America v8
DVD in the UK or can I get it from the US ?

Thanks for any help

Can't answer that question. A US vendor may be
able to .. or a fellow UK user.

Like you, I bought my GPSMAP 60CSx in the UK where I'm based.

Hope you don't mind me piggybacking on your post (and I fear I can't
answer your question), but I wonder if you or anyone knows where
a 2 Gbyte microSD card can be purchased from the UK, preferably
one of the fast ones I've seen mentioned in this group.

Also, do you think the auxiliary antenna is worth buying, for use
in a car or for improving reception generally?

There have been some problems with the "fast ones" in GPS receivers. I
think it was specifically the SanDisk Ultra II cards. I'd be inclined
to stay with the standard cards until there has been some demonstrated
reliability with the faster ones.

I've been using two SanDisk standard speed microSD cards in my 76Cx and
had no problems them at all. I've used the cards in various card
readers (using a SD adapter) and also in the GPS in the Mass Storage
Mode with no problems.

I have a fairly new American made car, I usually rest my 76Cx in one of
the cup holders in the forward end of the console between the seats. It
is really laying quite low, almost under the dash, and I've never
noticed any problem with signal reception unless it was because of an
inner city canyon or from being in tall and thick vegetation.

Some cars have metallic layers in the windows that can block GPS signals
but that appears to not be an issue with mine.

If I were seeing any reception problems (grossly larger EPE, dropping
from 3D to 2D or losing the fix, etc.) in the position where I keep the
GPS now, I would consider using an external antenna (I already have one)
but have not found a need for it yet.

I think it is a good accessory to have, I'll probably get some use out
of mine sooner or later. I bought one of the generic antennas on eBay,
it was much cheaper than the Garmin and it performs just as well as the
Gilsson antennas.

I wouldn't get the "fast" one. As Jack said, there have been
reports of problems with them. I have a San-disk 1G card in
my 76CSx and it works fine. The card speed isn't really
going to matter, the unit's processor is the limiting factor.

With my 76CSx I've seen absolutely no reason for an external
antennae. My old 76CS wouldn't even find one satellite while
I was in my house. The 76CSx routinely picks up 5 or six
when I'm fooling around with it in the living room.

For auto travel I'd get a base and mounting unit for the
dashboard and be done with it.

You can see samples of them here:

Look for:
GARMIN Portable Non-Skid Friction Mount (010-10306-00)
and
GARMIN GPSMAP 60C/60CS Automotive Mounting Bracket
(010-10456-00)

Pay no attention that they don't have the "x" on the model
number, they'll work fine.

A Google UK search will give many suppliers of 2GB microSD cards (some
awaiting stock) from 55-120GBP. I believe you can get all the Garmin UK
TOPO (including navigation data) on one of these cards.

Don't waste your money on an auxiliary antenna. My unit works without
any problem at the windscreen. I have also used it handheld (in the
passenger seat) of a Landrover with complete satisfaction - they have
only a small window view of the sky!. If you have not already got one
do get a Garmin 12V to GPSMAP 60 series cable, it saves a lot of
battery changing and charging and is essential if you want to use it
after dark
