Starting a route in the middle
|

| I have a simple Etrex personal Navigator, the $100 variety. It has worked
great geochaching with my grandkids.
I have set up routes to use while driving, and it has worked great.
What I have not figured out is: Is it possible to start in the middle of a
route and continue to the end? When I select a route, it wants me either
start at the beginning waypoint or at the last place waypoint.
If it is not possible, I will break a very little routs into many smaller
routes.
Thanks

Try activating the route and then, with the route still active, try
recalculating it (if the eTrex will do that). That is what I have to do
on my 76Cx.

| You mean, if you are somewhere on the route and ask the gps to start
navigate, it show you the starting or ending point of the route on the
map?
On my etrex legent, if I stop somewhere on the route and turn it off,
it will help me navigate toward the end point if I turn it back on and
reselect the same route.
What I don't know is what will happen if I am a short distance of the
route, enough for him to detect I am not on the route anymore. I don't
know what this distance (tolerance) can be.

Thanks! I do not know if my unit will do that, but I will give it a try.

| I have tried every way I can think of and the best it does is point to where
I have been after turning it on. That's not to helpful.

| This means you moved between the moment you turned it offf and the
moment you turned it on again? You need to turn it back on at the
place you turned it off for it to work.

I don't think you have tried every way <bg>. Also, I am using older
StreetPilot III so it may not work exactly same with yours, but I don't
think it should be much difference.
1. Routing, when you create a route then GPS should create an Interest
Point (or similar) and it usually use the Default Icon *unless* you =
change
and save specific Icon and Name etc..
2. If you are in the middle of routing and you don't stop (end) it, then
when turn on the GPS usually reload the previous route and continue where=
it
left off. If it's there but doesn't continue then it should have option =
to
Continue
3. If you ended it or it's ended by some odd reason and want to continue
then you just FIND and LOAD the Interest Point and tell the GPS you want =
to
route to that specific location.

| My Etrex will not recalculate. That's a shame.
