Hi,

Probably a dumb question but I won one of these devices on the ebay but
I am thinking of putting some topo maps on it for hiking. If I do this
does it over write the maps the device comes with and if so how do I
get them back on the device again ?

Thanks

If the Vista C works like most of the other Garmin units, you can load
BOTH type map segments into the unit at the same time. How many total
maps... is limited by your maximum memory.

Once loaded in your unit, the maps operate under a heirarchy. Certain
map types have priority over others. I think Topo is at the bottom of
the hierarchy. In order to see the topo map, you must UNCLICK (turn
off) the "city map" segment covering the same geographical area. This
is a temporary thing. Once the "city map" segment is turned off, you
should be able to see the underlying Topo map.

The memory in a Vista C will not give you much room for double loading
many segments.

If you call Garmin's cartography department, they will give you all the
info you need.
